About Ben

I spent 10 years in the Marine Corps Reserve, one year as part of an anti-terrorism force in California and one combat tour in Iraq.  I just finished a year long tour as a private security contractor in Iraq.  I have a wife and one young son.  I grew up in Sountern California, but now live in Central Texas.  I started Modern Self Protection to teach every-day people how to aviod being a victim of crime.  My goal, the evil of the world should fear the good.

Meth Labs

One of the worst things to find on an urban area is a meth lab. A meth (short for methamphetamine) is a place that makes the drug methamphetamines (sometimes called meth, crank, glass, speed, ice, and a lot more). It's quite dangerous to the people making it and people around the lab. It's called a lab because it is mixing dangerous, volatile chemicals (like ether) to make the drug. It uses large quantities and becomes explosive and dangerous to inhale. So stay away.

What are the signs of a meth lab?

  • Ether smell- large drums to contain the liquids
  • People staying outside lust long enough to smoke
  • Blacked out windows
  • Large amounts of common house hold cleaners
  • Large amounts of over-the-counter medicines (like cough syrup)
  • To see more check out this article http://www.portlandonline.com/police/index.cfm?c=38594

What should you do if you suspect a lab?

  • Call police and tell them everything you saw
  • If they don't take you seriously, call the sheriff's office (these things are that dangerous)
  • Stay away from the area and don't talk to the people.  This is one situation you want to avoid.  These people are risking their lives for illegal financial gain.  Avoid them

Stay Safe,

Ben
