Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 12:00PM Another attempted bombing on Christmas, and more changes to security. Politically everyone wants to look like they are doing something, whether they are or not.
The Christmas bombing attempt wasn’t a failure of American Airport Security; it was a failure by another country. We can’t control what the rest of the world does.
Everyone wants more regulations and safety at airport security. The problem is we are always one step behind. The security regulations are put in after something happens. On the other hand, people won’t submit to further security checks unless they think they are necessary. Who would have taken off their shoes before the shoe bomber?
Now there is more talk about individually screening passengers with a type of x-ray machine that always the user to look through the persons’ close and see anything and everything underneath.
What’s the answer? Not the one anyone wants to hear. Sometimes you have to trust the people in security. When they say something is needed, it probably is. I know the guy that originally put together TSA’s policies after 9/11. He’s one of the smartest in the industry. TSA know what they are doing. Allow security to do their job, it’s not easy, and they are doing it well.
Stay Safe,
Ben
