Things that go Boom!
Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at 12:00PM Last Wednesday a live grenade was brought to a police sub-station in San Antonio (Story Link). The guy had it in his home for 10 years. He found it in his father’s house after dad died.
Don’t play with things that go boom. If you find something, or you think you found something. Back away, and call police. Something like a grenade (the size of a large man’s fist) should be given at least 50 yards. Keep people way from it, if you can. You keep you safe, first. When the police arrive, tell them everything you can about it, and let them handle it.
Be careful with this old stuff. Even military grade (read safe devices) can go off unintentionally. Things like movement and radio signals can set them off. Like I teach Marines, if you don’t know exactly what is, what it does, and how it got there, don’t mess with it. Many will speculate about anything, but you don’t want to be around the guy that is playing with it. A pro will start by telling you to keep a distance why they look at it.
Stay Safe,
Ben
